Oh, my goodness , you are in for a treat with these Chocolate Cherry Oat Bars. They are both decadent and nutritious, plus super easy to make and only four ingredients. They don’t contain added sugar, flour, butter or oil.

Jax and I make “healthy cookies” all the time using bananas and oatmeal so that was the inspiration behind these bars. I love the combination of cherries and chocolate but raisins or cranberries would work great too! I used dark chocolate chunks to keep the sugar low but feel free to use milk or semi-sweet chocolate if that is what you have on hand.

You’re going to love these!

Chocolate Cherry Oatmeal Bars

Ingredients:

  • 3 large ripe bananas
  • 3 cups quick oats
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chunks, divided
  • 1/2 cup dried cherries

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Peel bananas. Using a masher (or a fork) mash bananas until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the oats, cherries and half the chocolate chunks and mix until combined. Mixture will be sticky.
  4. Line a 9″x9″ baking pan with parchment paper.
  5. Press the mixture into pan, making sure it is evenly distributed corner to corner.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes. Remove from oven.
  7. Melt the remainder of the chocolate in the microwave. I find it best to melt for 30 seconds, stopping half way through to mix.
  8. Carefully remove the bars from the pan. Drizzle with the melted chocolate.
  9. Allow to chocolate to set before cutting in to bars.
  10. Enjoy! Store leftovers in airtight container on the counter for up to 4 days.
