In Dining Out

Tucked in a corner in Scottsdale’s Southbridge area is a gem of a restaurant, rich with class and Italian charm — Marcellino Ristorante.

Owned by Chef Marcellino and his wife, Sima, the couple has poured over every detail, from the decor to the food, they have created a menu true to the integrity of Italian cuisine in a beautiful and welcoming setting.

The menu is something of a marvel, featuring a selection of pastas lovingly handcrafted in-house every day. Chef Marcellino sources the finest quality ingredients, always fresh, always in season.

On my visit I devoured the tortelloni special of the day. House made pasta stuffed with filet mignon, mushrooms, cheese and herbs, topped with a fresh tomato sauce. This dish was a taste explosion, the pasta was perfectly cooked, you can always tell the difference between fresh pasta and remade by the chew. This pasta was perfectly toothsome, an al dente bite that matched perfectly with the savory, meaty filling and tangy sauce. It was simple and classic, a prime example of a fantastic Italian comfort dish – perfect pasta and excellent sauce.

But Marcellino’s isn’t just turning out perfect pastas – they have a fabulous selection of meat dishes too.

The Pollo al Rosmarino, found on the lunch menu, is an expertly grilled chicken breast with fresh rosemary, white wine and lemon. It is a generous portion served with fresh, seasonal vegetables and oven roasted potatoes. It is a dish as beautiful and it is delicious.

Dessert is always a good decision and not to be missed at Marcellino’s. With choices like the Apple Galletta, Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake, Tiramisu, and Panna Cotta you can’t go wrong. I decided on the Tartufo al Cioccolato, a creation of chocolate gelato hand rolled in imported cocoa, crushed almonds & dark chocolate bits crowned with fresh berries and whipped cream. It was sinful and satisfying – the perfect ending to my Marcellino’s experience.

Chef Marcellino has such a passion for his rich heritage and fine dining that he offers cooking classes at the restaurant. Guests gather around the “chef’s island” to watch and learn as Chef prepares some of his favorite recipes. And then the best part…the meal is enjoyed among the group with wine and friendship.

Chef and Sima have thought of everything. Thoughtful details truly make their establishment something special.

Another thoughtful offering are the Amore Baskets. An elevated takeout option featuring three courses meant for two, festively wrapped and packaged with heating/serving instructions. These are perfect to gift to a new mom, a newlywed couple, a housewarming gift or for a night at home with that special someone in your life!

Marcellino Ristorante is an ideal spot for an intimate date night dinner, a special occasion celebration or anytime you want to be treated to classic Italian fare in a beautifully ambient setting.

Marcellino Ristorante is located at 7114 E Stetson Dr, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. For reservations call (480) 990-9500.
