One of my favorite things about dining at a Brazilian steakhouse is the frothy, refreshing bitter-yet-sweet limeade. It’s creamy, icy, tart and refreshing.

The last time I had one I asked the waiter how to make it at home and I was happy to learn that it’s pretty easy and tastes just as good coming out of my blender.

Here is my version of this yummy, exotic drink. Enjoy!

I was told to leave the peel on the limes but I find it comes out slightly too bitter for my taste, so I remove about half the peel from each lime. It’s up to you how much peel to leave on. You can also adjust the amount of simple syrup you use if you find the bitterness overwhelming.

Tart & Tangy Brazilian Limeade

Ingredients:

  • 5 Limes
  • 2 Cups Cold Water
  • 1/2 Cup Simple Syrup (equal parts sugar and water boiled together until sugar granules dissolve)
  • 1/2 Cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • Ice

Directions:

  1. Cut Limes into quarters (you may need to cut them smaller if your blender has a hard time handling large chunks).
  2. Put limes, simple syrup, sweetened condensed milk and water in blender.
  3. Fill the remainder of the container with ice.
  4. Blend on high until smooth and frothy.
  5. If you left on most of the lime peel you may want to strain, but I never do.
  6. Serve in a sugar rimmed glass for maximum enjoyment!
