Say bon voyage to summer and get ready to set sail…to Cuba! September 1-4, 2017 the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess presents its 7th Annual Labor Day Dreamcation and will transform in to a cruise ship – the S.S. Princess.
Get away without going away! Guests will be captivated by the color and culture of this port of call, with Cuban music, a vintage car show, cigar rollers, rum tastings, palm trees swaying and fireworks lighting up the night.
Welcome Aboard the Ship & Car Show
Guests will be greeted at the front drive/ship dock by valets in guayabera shirts and Panama hats. Then it’s on to the American classic car show, featuring more than 40 vintage vehicles from Brown’s Auto Auction and other car enthusiasts. Highlights include a bright blue Buick Roadmaster and a candy apple red Chevy Bel Air, plus so much more – it’s a step back in time.
Island Days
The Fairmont Funergy Team has a full itinerary of shore excursions for the kids such as swimming with mermaids, fishing with Ranger Rick, watermelon eating contests and giant dominoes. Grown-ups can enjoy the adults-only pools while sipping classic Cuban cocktails and listening to the sounds of a steel drum band. Spa-goers will enjoy mojito and coffee-scented treatments, “Get on Your Feet” dance classes and mojito-infused chilled towels at Well & Being Spa.
Renew Your Wedding Vows
The S.S. Princess ship captain, Thomas Williams, Director of Guest Services (an ordained minister) will give love birds the chance to renew their vows! After the ceremony, the couple is toasted with champagne and whisked away on a decorated golf cart cruise around the resort. Havana Nights
As the sun goes down, the Princess’ popular lawn concerts heat up the night with the Miami-salsa beats of the Rhythm Sound Machine on Friday and Sunday nights (Sept. 1 + 3) and the fun, high-energy ’80s Spazmatics band headlining Saturday (Sept. 2). The concerts are at 8 p.m. and are complimentary for overnight guests as well as the resort’s restaurant dinner guests (with a spend of $75) each evening.
At the Sonoran Splash pool complex, it’s the last weekend to enjoy the Techno Glo Party, with thrill rides down the water slides with black lights, lasers, fog and the hottest hits played by DJ Splash, along with LED hula hoopers. As the grand finale to a spectacular summer, fireworks light up the sky over the TPC Scottsdale at 9 p.m., Friday – Sunday nights, September 1-3, 2017. After the concerts, The Plaza Bar becomes the Havana Club from 9 p.m. to midnight, with a deejay and salsa dancing, Cuban street tacos and cigar rollers.
