Hope you all had an extra special Easter. We certainly did!
The husband and I welcomed our loved ones to our home to celebrate with us.
We may have gone a little overboard with the egg hunt. There were close to 200 eggs strewn about my yard for the hunting pleasure of only four kids.
Eggs in the grass, eggs on the wall.
Eggs on the steps.
Eggs.
Eggs.
Eggs.
This was Miss Jacquelyn’s second egg hunt of the season. So she was seasoned and had a strategy planned out.
The little smartie picked up each egg and shook it. If it rattled that could mean there was jelly beans inside. So she’d investigate by opening the egg, if there were, indeed, jelly beans she stuffed them in her mouth and tossed the empty eggs aside. Some of the rattling eggs contained quarters – no where near as enticing as jelly beans.
All non-rattling eggs were also discarded without second thought, bummer because in addition to eggs with stickers and figurines, some of the silent eggs contained bills of the spending kind. She could have bulked up her piggy bank – but jelly beans reigned supreme for my girl.
Sarah is such a good auntie to her little nieces and nephews. Miss Jax loves her aunt so much.
After the egg-citing hunt, we feasted.
Spiral cut ham, fresh, roasted asparagus, cheesy potatoes and strawberry cream pie. Simplicity at it’s most delectable! I used this recipe for the pie and it was so easy and turned out delicious – those are the best kind of recipes.
Strawberries tumbled together with stored-bought, frozen mini-eclairs on a white serving platter make for eye-catching and delicious table decor.
Mmmm….Orange Cream Fizz – a super-simple, super-yummy beverage. It’s cream soda and orange sherbet and it is divine!
I kept decor fuss-free and inexpensive, yet festive, by simply purchasing extra plastic eggs at the dollar store and displaying them in fun ways – like under a cloche on this stemmed cupcake stand.
Or piled on my cupcake tier and topped with a cute little chick.
I also utilized leftover Easter basket filler and brought out coordinating decor from Jax’s first birthday party.
It’s pretty apparent that the kiddos in my family are well-loved….and by loved I mean spoiled. Keep in mind there were only four kids in attendance!
I knew the kids were going to be getting multiple Easter baskets so I opted to fill up these cute mini suitcases with their goodies. They were a hit!
Somewhere during the Easter basket frenzy the kiddos lost their clothes.
Grandpa Easter bunny and his girlfriend brought Jax a rock-star themed basket and we were all treated to a show.
Good times!
I’d love to hear about your holiday and traditions!
Your backyard looks amazing!! & I’m coming over to eat 😉 yummy!!!
