We celebrated my little sister, Sarah’s, ninth birthday over the weekend. The bash was held at Jambo, a local indoor theme park.
Jax was just tall enough to go on the rides but she was fascinated with the swings and showed no interest in anything else. I pretty much left her on the swings for the entire party with instructions to the attendant not to let her go off with anyone else but me (just kidding, I was always in range).
I love seeing this girl so happy. I wasn’t feeling that great this day, the incision from my surgery was hurting and I had a terrible headache, but hearing her laugh and seeing that smile made the pain go away. Seriously. Her happiness is euphoric to me.

And so did Jax…with cake and ice cream.
But not so much with grandpa on the elephant ride. I love that my father is mocking her cries.

Jax recovered quickly, the next time I saw her she was happily riding on grandpa’s shoulders on her way to the swings.
Jax loves trains and I t bought she’d be excited to ride this one, but there was no coaxing her away from the swings.
Although the kids had a BLAST, I would not recommend Jambo for parties to anyone. They were understaffed, unorganized and unprofessional. But I guess none of that matters to kids when there is mini-golf, rides, laser tag and arcade games. Despite the chaos Sarah, Jax and friends had a lot of fun and at the end of the day that was all that really mattered.
