In Dining Out

If you know me then it’s no secret – I love food. And I LOVE the food at Twisted Grove Parlor and Bar. I’d heard time and again from my foodie friends how great Twisted Grove is and I finally discovered this gem for myself.

I visited the Phoenix location on 32nd St. & Camelback and was impressed upon walking in. The place is bright and open with a wall of windows lining one side, when opened they lend to an al fresco dining experience, perfect when the weather is nice.

We ordered a couple entrees to share and both blew me away.

The Crispy Grouper is a sandwich of huge proportions. The grouper is filleted in-house  and generously portioned.  It’s perfectly cooked, encased in a seasoned batter that keeps the fish inside moist and flavorful.  The slaw was crisp and the addition of house-made quick pickles and pickled onions gave the sandwich a tangy bite. It’s a huge sandwich served with a heap of piping hot, hand-cut fries, dressed up with garlic and herbs. So good.

Our second shared entree, The Angry Bird Flatbread, held it’s own against that fabulous sandwich. Like everything at Twisted Grove, the flatbread dough is made in-house and cooked in a stone oven, it makes for a chewy crust with a crisp exterior and soft interior. The Angry Bird is loaded with goat cheese, roasted chicken, corn and angry sauce. All the elements compliment each other for a perfect bite.  The fresh corn adds texture and sweetness to balance out the heat of the angry sauce and the goat cheese adds smooth tangy creaminess to it all. I loved the unique combination of this flatbread.

Dessert is always a MUST and I highly recommend Twisted Grove’s Tres Leches Cake with salted caramel, whipped cream and fresh berries. It’s so moist and sinfully delicious.

Twisted Grove has two valley locations, one in Phoenix and the other in Scottsdale on north Hayden Rd.

Phoenix location: 3160 E. Camelback Rd.
Scottsdale location: 8220 N. Hayden Rd.

Both locations offer weekend brunch and a “Twisted” happy hour. The Scottsdale location has two private dining areas for parties and celebrations.

Disclaimer: I enjoyed a complimentary meal at Twisted Grove to help facilitate this post. As usual, all opinions are entirely my own.
