In Family Time, Travel/Arizona

A couple weeks ago Jax and I had the chance to check out Jake’s Unlimited. I had been years ago when it was called Amazing Jake’s and had a great time so I knew the trek to Mesa would be worth the drive. Rides, games, bowling, non-stop fun and endless pizza – how could it not be worth it?!

Many things have changed since the Amazing Jake’s days with a recent overhaul, that includes a two-level laser tag arena, expansive bowling area with VIP suites, a large bumper car area, midway games and more arcade games. The all-you-can- eat pizza buffet has been expanded and improved under Chef Scott Nelson and an a la carte menu has been added (available after 8pm). Adults will appreciate the two full bars serving up cocktails, wine or draft beer. And the venue has added Jake’s After Dark, an adults only late night happy hour.

But we were there for the family fun and Jax had a BLAST!! I could barely keep up with her as she ran around the place in excitement. She was obsessed with the Frog Hopper ride and must have went on it at least 20 times – that is not an exaggeration.

She also enjoyed the spinning tea cups, bumper cars, Radius, and carousel but the Frog Hopper trumped them all in her book.

We missed out on the bowling (next time) but Jax enjoyed playing arcade and midway games for awhile. Jake’s Unlimited has a large redemption area that is more like a store where kids can redeem their ticket winnings for candy, small toys, stuffed animals and more.

The buffet was plentiful and delicious. So delicious I neglected to get any photos of it since I was too busy devouring pizza, pasta, salads and cookies for dessert. All Jake’s Unlimited packages include the buffet and those are the way to go when visiting. Package prices start at $22.99.

The former Amazing Jake’s was an east Valley staple for family fun, food and birthday parties but Jake’s Unlimited has turned up the volume making the place an entertainment destination.

Jax has been begging to go back and I loved it so much I will mostly certainly will give in to that whim. She has proclaimed Jake’s Unlimited her most favorite place on earth!

Jake’s Unlimited is located at 1830 East Baseline Rd. Mesa, AZ 85204. Call (480) 926-7499 for more information.
