In Travel/Arizona

It’s been a long, long time since I’ve left the state of Arizona, or even Phoenix city limits. Too long…like almost a year and a half! I desperately need a vacation.

Good thing my last trip was so wonderfully memorable. It was my babymoon, just me and the hubs relaxing in bliss-before-baby at the Glorietta Bay Inn on Coronado Island in California.

The setting of the Glorietta Bay Inn (GBI) is absolutely magical, a sprawling historic mansion in a prime Coronado location. It was an amazing trip and I am itching to get back, with Jax in tow, of course.

I was seven months pregnant – huge and waddling when we were there and the attentive, caring staff made sure my stay was delightfully comfortable. That wonderful husband of mine, booked a special babymoon package inclusive of an in-room prenatal massage, in-room movies, a gift basket with chocolates, pickles (to curb my preggy cravings), a gift certificate to MooTime Ice Cream and an adorable plush elephant, that Miss Jax now cuddles with every day.

Our room was in the main Mansion and absolutely perfect, from the comfortable king-sized bed to the charming antiques, all was welcoming warm and inviting. We had a delicious expanded continental breakfast delivered to our door every morning and snacks were available every afternoon. Tim and I spent one of the chillier days inside, playing games in the parlor, enjoying complimentary hot apple cider – it was relaxing and a welcomed change of pace for my pregnant body.

My absolute favorite part of our stay was the milk and cookie turn-down service we enjoyed every night. What is better than coming back to your room after a day at the beach than ice-cold milk and fresh-baked cookies? Nothing I tell you, absolutely nothing! It was a pregnant lady’s dream come true!

Now, I know what you must be thinking, if you’re going to go to Coronado Island, you need to stay at the Hotel Del Coronado.

Well, you’re wrong!

The Glorietta Bay Inn is a gem, a luxury, boutique hotel with all the history and charm of The Del at a fraction of the cost. The beach is right across the street, merely a three minute jaunt through the Del’s lush grounds and straight to the immaculate Pacific. You can have lunch/dinner at The Del, take advantage of their beautiful beach and come back to the calm, serene beauty of GBI, free of the overwhelming hustle and bustle happening across the street. You can’t beat it!

It isn’t just a great place for expectant couple celebrating their last hurrah before baby, it’s also ideal for a romantic honeymoon or even a family vacation. They have a heated swimming pool and great dining, shopping and activities are just steps away! We’re planning our first family getaway there this fall. Can’t wait!

How cool is this? The Glorietta Bay Inn is offering a great prize to one lucky Yay Baby! reader. The prize includes a plush GBI logo robe and a stuffed elephant, just like the one we got for Jax during our stay. You will love the soft luxury of the robe and your little one will enjoy snuggling with Elsie the Elephant.

We love Coronado. My husband and I stayed at a great B&B there just before we found out we were pregnant with our little man. That’s the last actual vacation we took over a year and a half ago.

We’re actually going to be staying in Coronado in a few weeks, in a private condo, but we will definitely be checking this fabulous place…maybe for a future family get-away!!! And it would be a super plus to win the contest…my baby girl looves elephants!!! :0)
